The white box of the gallery is transformed into a series of “rooms,” aligned along their centers, recalling the origins of public art display in the enfilades of old palaces. The design makes one aware of the sensory and material experience of the gallery space by featuring the wall’s translucency and revealed structure. Instead of the de-materialized white box - which aspires to become a neutral background – the exhibition design proposes a material reality that heightens one’s awareness of the ways architecture mediates our experience of space and the perception of the art object.
