Located near the Black River in Pocahontas, Arkansas, 1st Choice Healthcare is a new flagship clinic that challenges traditional rural healthcare design. Anchored by strong site relationships and natural materials, the building blends public spaces with private clinical zones through a simple core. Covered drive-throughs, developed during the height of COVID, provide safe, accessible care. A symmetrical layout of nurses’ stations and exams rooms allows dual patient processing. This prototype facility supports community health while setting a precedent for future clinics across rural Arkansas.
