Nestled in a historic streetscape in Nagoya, Poppy Roastery serves as both a roasting workspace and a retail environment. The traditional architectural structure limited the ceiling height to just 2.17 meters. To counter this constraint, a 1mm-thick polished aluminum ceiling was installed, creating a conceptual expansion of space and reflecting the movement of people and time. Dark, charcoal-infused paint deepens the space, while a Portuguese carbonized cork counter evokes heat and fire. A vivid blue carpet anchors the interior, channeling the atmosphere of nostalgic Japanese kissaten.
