The Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong transcends clinical function, weaving Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) wisdom into architectural poetry. A deeper appreciation lies in the dialectical relationship of Order—"the meeting with nature in Order to be". Binary opposites coexist in space, form & ambience: light & shade, solid & void, color & blank, large & small, low ceiling & high volume, smooth & rough, near & far. These are manipulated through careful calibration of space, color, materiality & light. We have sought to embrace the cultural roots in their essence for our time & identity.
