Set on the rugged La Jolla coast, this residence reinterprets a mid-century beach house as a calm study of light, texture, and spatial clarity. A carved interior courtyard anchors the plan, drawing daylight and breezes to gather living spaces while private rooms layer outward for a gradient of intimacy. Coastal Commission rules preserved the 1950s shell, turning constraint into precision through inward circulation, amplified volume, and integrated millwork. Passive ventilation, operable shading, and durable, responsibly sourced materials complete an enduring coastal retreat.
