Comfort In Common

University/SchoolParsons School of Design
Lead ArchitectMinhee Kim

Shared Landscape reimagines communal living in student residence halls as a continuous gradient between public and private. Rather than treating shared space as a fixed lounge or circulation zone, the project introduces a series of interconnected “nooks” across multiple scales, from communal lounges and hallways to intimate bed alcoves within residential units. Through ceramic-based material studies and spatial experimentation, the project explores how communal interiors can foster a stronger sense of belonging while allowing students to negotiate their own level of privacy and connection.
