In Bacolor, Pampanga—once buried by Mount Pinatubo’s lahar flows—The Capital Commons rises as a contemporary workspace rooted in cultural resilience. Inspired by Bacolor’s legacy as the “Athens of Pampanga,” the project reimagines the architectural office as a “third place” between home and work, heritage and innovation. Despite modest spatial constraints, handcrafted installations, reclaimed materials, and local textures transform the space into a workplace, gallery, workshop, and cultural platform grounded in identity, sustainability, and community.
