Nun House is a 400m² coastal interior in El Gouna, Red Sea — between ancient mountains and the sea. The ancient Egyptian water hieroglyph, a wave, is the soul of the design: the living room ceiling ripples as an upside-down water surface, brass feluca boats sail along its waves, and a seven-metre waterfall TV unit carries the wave from ceiling to sand-coloured floor. Nubian vaults in Scandinavian timber, custom kilim carpets, Fayoum pottery, alabaster, and Red Sea mountain stone complete a home where Egyptian craft and Nordic restraint become one.
